WASHINGTON — In what is being described as an unprecedented move, President-elect Donald Trump is preparing to sign more than 200 executive actions on his first day in office, according to reports from Fox News Digital and ABC News.
This ambitious slate of executive orders will focus on a range of policy priorities, including border security, energy production, reducing the cost of living for American families, and dismantling diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) programs across the federal government, sources revealed.
A senior administration official described the plan as a “historic series” of actions that will, in their words, “fundamentally reform the American government.” They went on to say that the orders will work toward the “complete and total restoration of American sovereignty.”
The executive actions will be signed in waves, starting with a set of “omnibus” orders that will consolidate dozens of policy changes into each directive. These will be signed in various locations — some immediately following the inauguration at the U.S. Capitol, others during the inaugural parade at the Capitol One Arena, with additional measures being finalized at the White House.
Fox News Digital’s White House correspondent Jacqui Heinrich shared some key points of the plan, which includes:
- Closing the border to illegal immigration by declaring a national emergency at the southern border and issuing a proclamation to stop illegal crossings.
- Directing the military to expand construction on the border wall and reintroducing the “Remain in Mexico” policy while ending “Catch and Release.”
- Strengthening energy independence by lifting restrictions on Alaskan oil and gas development, and reversing policies that have restricted U.S. energy production.
- Returning federal workers to in-person work and implementing new standards for hiring and managing senior government officials.
- Suspending the security clearances of 51 national security officials who allegedly misled the public about Hunter Biden’s laptop in the lead-up to the 2020 election.
- Ending all diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives across the federal government.
- Implementing a hiring freeze at a newly established Department of Government Efficiency.
- Declaring a national energy emergency, halting offshore wind leases, and withdrawing from the Paris Climate Accord.
- Directing agencies to remove policies that increase the financial burden on American families and consumers.
Other proposed executive actions will focus on national security, with cartels potentially being designated as foreign terrorist organizations, and the reversal of Biden-era environmental policies, including restrictions on electric vehicles and offshore drilling.
At a victory rally held at the Capitol One Arena on Sunday, Trump teased these upcoming executive actions, acknowledging that his staff had urged him to spread out the orders over his first days in office. Despite their advice, he is determined to launch his presidency with a decisive and swift implementation of his campaign promises.
These sweeping actions signal that Trump’s administration intends to make rapid and wide-ranging changes from day one, setting the stage for a transformative second term in office.
